FRIENDS and family helped Margaret Riley celebrate a very special birthday last Sunday,

Centenarian Margaret, known as Peggy, was thrilled with her 100th birthday party at Dearne Valley Care Centre.

Some of her nearest and dearest were on hand to offer their well-wishes, and the staff at the care home said her face ‘lit up’ when she saw her grandchildren.

Wendy Warburton, senior care nurse at the Goldthorpe facility, said: “She likes to be known as Peggy. She’s still going strong and she’s so popular and everyone here knows who she is.

“Peggy is lovely and she has a great sense of humour – she’s just so loving. She loves a kiss and a cuddle.

“On Sunday she had a party where her family came down and everyone had some cake.

“She was really loving it. Her face lit up when she saw her grandchildren.”
