THE Cooper Gallery is hosting a free family fun day on Saturday to celebrate the opening of two new displays.
The 'World of Brian Wildsmith', showcases the work of the world-renowned children's book author and illustrator Brian Wildsmith featuring his colourful and imaginative paintings of animals, landscapes, and stories.
The exhibitions can be seen across two town centre venues: Paws, Claws, Tales & Roars: The Art of Brian Wildsmith at the Cooper Gallery and Coming Home: The Life of Brian Wildsmith at Experience Barnsley: Museum & Discovery Centre.
You can explore both of them and learn more about the life and work of the Barnsley-born artist and illustrator.
There will also be wild and wonderful free crafts to enjoy at the Cooper Gallery. Visitors can make their own animal masks and spoon puppets inspired by Brian’s characters. And you can join local author and illustrator Paul Morton, who will be working with families and visitors to create a huge tiger mural.
The event is at the Cooper Gallery on Saturday between 11am and 3pm. www.barnsley-museums.com/whats-on/the-world-of-brian-wildsmith
