AN award-winning fundraiser is set to take on his latest challenge alongside his daughter and colleagues.
Swimming instructor Robert Blackburn has raised thousands for charity over the years and was awarded a Proud of Barnsley award last year in recognition of his efforts.
Robert is preparing to take the plunge at Derwent Water in the Lake District alongside his daughter, Isabelle, and co-workers Nicole Perry, Emily Gamble, Maddie Barker and his friend, Steve Costing.
The latest fundraiser is being supported by Emma and Mark Mallender, from Wombwell-based Triple M Vehicles, who are covering costs for the 1.5km swim next month.
They will raise funds for the Barnsley Hospital Charity in honour of the facility’s intensive care unit that saved Robert and Steve’s friend’s life last year.
Robert – who has raised more than £11,000 in a decade said: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has sponsored me over the years.”
