A YOUNG rugby player isn’t letting an unlucky break stop him raising funds for his club.

Twelve-year-old Jake Hallas, who plays for Dodworth Miners’ Welfare, originally planned to take on a half marathon in February to help the rugby league team pay for new equipment.

However, Jake broke his wrist so was unable to complete the challenge.

Dad Paul said: “He originally set the challenge for February 25 but he broke his wrist at a Pathway organised by Leeds Rhinos so he kept himself fit and now he’s back on course to help his team.

“He’s been playing rugby for two years and is quite fast.”

“Since then he’s been really interested in running and fitness. I just think it’s great that he wants to go out and do something for his team.”

Jake has rescheduled the run for May 12 and donations can be made here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Jakehallas?utm_term=vD6jKGZMa
