WESTON Park Cancer Charity will be taking over Oakwell Stadium on Saturday to raise funds.

The charity has been partnering up with local football clubs including Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday as part of a campaign to raise £50,000.

Their ‘Big Purple Bus’ will be making its Barnsley debut at the weekend during the Reds’ match against Derby County, with a team of healthcare professionals and qualified welfare advisors who will be available to have a chat with before kick-off.

The Barnsley team will have limited edition shirts, which will be signed by players and up for auction after the match.

Darren Hayes, head of fundraising at Weston Park Cancer Charity, said: “We’re delighted to continue our campaign with Barnsley – partnerships like this make such a difference to local people and our communities.

“We’re looking forward to our takeover day and we are pleased to be bringing our Big Purple Bus to Oakwell which will be on hand to welcome fans onboard to learn about the cancer support we offer within the region.”
