A MAN is due to appear in court later this month charged with theft from a town centre shop.
Last Friday officers from Barnsley Central Neighbourhood Policing Team were on high visibility patrols in Barnsley town centre when they noticed staff from a retail premises detaining a male who allegedly had numerous stolen items in his possession.
As officers approached, the male broke free and attempted to run. He was detained a short distance later and arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop.
Artur Paliakou, aged 30, was charged with the theft offence and was remanded into custody to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court at the end of the month.
