AGE UK Barnsley are encouraging residents to take part in their community-run allotment scheme.
The charity has a big plot of land in the centre of Barnsley, and are asking local people if they’d like to help maintain it. They’re asking for groups of friends aged 50 and above, as well as independent residents living in the town centre who want to enjoy fresh air and be outdoors.
A spokesperson added: “You will help to keep the plot tidy and weed free.
“Members can have their own plot space for growing and a share in the polytunnel and green house spaces. All tools will be provided. Our allotments need YOU!”
