A MAN has been sentenced to a community order for the assault of a barman in a local pub.

Jon Doocey, of Randerson Drive. Kilnhurst, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Police were called to respond to the incident on June 4 last year, at the Old Bridge Inn, Monk Bretton.

In the days prior, Jon Doocey had concerns raised about the barman in question exchanging messages with a teenage girl.

After pleading guilty at magistrates’ court, he was sentenced on Wednesday to an 18-month community order, a 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement, a nine month mental health treatment order and 200 hours of unpaid work.
