A WOMAN driver is due in court in the new year accused of being five times over the legal alcohol limit.

Whilst attending an unrelated incident in Royston on the afternoon of December 19, North East Neighbourhood Policing Team officers and response colleagues arrested the woman who failed a roadside breath test.

She has been charged with driving whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol and is accused of blowing 176mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath – the legal limit is 35mg – while in custody.

She is due to appear at Barnsley Magistrates' Court on January 17.
