LOCALS have stepped up to save Christmas for those in need.

A water leak last weekend wreaked havoc at Stairfoot Foodbank, which resulted in the majority of its stock being ruined.

In less than a week locals managed to help them replenish the stock, allowing 85 parcels and 200 toys to be delivered before Christmas arrives.

Major support came from Asda and Morrisons, local Santa Claus Tony Batty, Coun Karen Dyson, St Luke’s Church in Grimethorpe and Alan Thorpe who donated £450.
