CHRISTMAS is known as a time for giving – and that’s exactly what these five youngsters are doing in aid of Barnsley Foodbank Partnership.

What started out as a group of young children aged between six and 11 singing in the street turned into an idea to give to others, particularly after such a difficult year with cost-of-living crisis.

Ralph and Isla Barrow, Rohan Kendell, Maddison Shillito and Henry Tierney have been collecting donations for the foodbank this week – and they’ll continue their campaign over the following days.

Ralph and Isla’s mum, Claire, said: “A group of children wanted to do something this Christmas to help others and came up with the idea of doing Christmas singing to raise food donations for Barnsley Foodbank Partnership.

“They’ve set up a fundraising page and already met their target before they have even started, so we are doubling the target.

“We want to thank everyone for their generosity."

Accompanied by an adult, they knocked on doors and sang a song of the residents' choice from a list that they had prepared in return for food donations.
