IN memory of their lost sister two women have embarked on a 50-kilometre journey to raise money for a mental health charity.
Julia Kilroy would have turned 50 next week, however lost her life back in 2018.
Her two sisters, Mary Kilroy and Sinead Butler, chose to partake in a fundraising journey that saw them swim, walk and run 50km over the past six weeks, where they generated £4,598 in aid of Mind.
The final trip took place last weekend, as they both walked from Hoyland to Wath with plenty of supporters behind them.
Mary said: “It all went really well.
“I did walking and swimming – I’m a member of Manvers Boat Club so got to do a lot of swimming there.
“My sister does a lot of running so she’s been doing park runs all over the place.”
Friends and family joined in on the fundraising, with 70 others taking part in the walk – some chose to do it simultaneously in Ireland, Turkey, Australia, America and France.
Mary added: “I’m glad to see that other people think like us and know how important the work Mind does is.
“There are so many people who suffer in silence.
“I’d like to say a very big thank you to everyone who donated.”
