A BARNSLEY fitness instructor will go out of his comfort zone and run 100km next year to raise money for two charities close to his heart.
Chris Marshall, 36, will complete the fundraiser in April next year by running up and down the mountains and hills in the Lake District.
He’s aiming to raise at least £1,000 for both the premature baby unit at Barnsley Hospital and Moorland Court nursing home.
He said: “I’ve chosen the premature baby unit at Barnsley Hospital as I has a little boy and it was a worrying time.
“He wasn’t born prematurely but I can understand what they were going through and the care he received by the staff was amazing.
“My dad has Alzheimer’s and he’s being cared for at Moorland Court, and my wife’s nannan was cared for there before she died.”
This will be the first time Chris has turned to running and he’s hoping the extraordinary trek will help more people take notice.
“I’m a fitness coach and I don’t really focus on running,” he added.
“I’m all about lifting weights and helping people lose weight.
“I wanted to do something difficult and out of my comfort zone so more people can take notice.
“I’m hoping to raise at least £1,000 for each charity.”
