A GROUP of Barnsley people tackled the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge last weekend to raise funds for a cancer charity.
Michael Senior, 57, and Robert Snodgrass, 55, both from Mapplewell, hoped to raise £600 for Macmillan after losing their parents to a cancer battle last year.
They exceeded their target, raising a total of £1,070 through a Just Giving fundraising link.
Michael’s daughters, Anna and Leah, and Robert’s son, Ryan, also took part in the 23-mile challenge.
“Last year both Rob and I lost one of our parents each to cancer,” Michael said.
“Rob’s dad, George, sadly passed away on April 8 and my mum, Patricia, died on October 7.
“During both their battles with cancer, the local Macmillan nurses were nothing short of amazing, so we decided to do this challenge both in George and Pat’s memory, but also to raise valuable funds for a wonderful cancer support charity.”
The group received a certificate after the challenge and proceeded to explain how they were ‘blown away’ by everyone’s kind support and generosity.
