A BARNSLEY-born actor will feature in a new ITV autobiographical comedy series directed by Alan Carr this month.

Shaun Dooley will play the role of Alan’s dad, Graham, in the upcoming Changing Ends programme which documents the comic’s life.

The show is based on Alan’s own life in Northampton during the 1980s growing up as the son of a football manager and Alan will star in the series as himself in the present day.

It follows his journey through puberty, adolescence, and self-discovery, all against the backdrop of Thatcher’s Britain.

Shaun said: “The love that everyone has shown us already, particularly towards Alan, has all been kind of taken and condensed and dropped into this show.

“The comedy will be more than just a trip down memory lane, it’s a love letter to a time and a town where things weren’t always so inclusive.”

The first episode, out of a total of six 30-minute episodes, aired yesterday on ITVX.
