EMERGENCY drop-in events have been announced in a bid to detect, diagnose and rule out forms of skin cancer amid a surge in melanoma cases.
Sessions which will be held from tomorrow to Friday from 10am while 3pm will be put on for free in an effort to detect, diagnose or rule out cancer across the borough.
Dermatology specialists will be on hand at Collier’s Restaurant at Barnsley Hospital tomorrow, Barnsley Market on Wednesday, Barnsley College on Thursday and Dearneside Leisure Centre on Friday.
Karen Sharman, service manager at the hospital, said: “We are delighted to be holding these drop-in sessions to give some reassurance and valuable advice to members of the public who have concerns about moles and other skin cancer related issues.
“We encourage anyone who is worried to come along to one of our drop-in sessions.”
