THE director of an educational resource provider has been nominated for an award.

Leonie Briggs, of Amazelab, which is based on Victoria Road, said she was ‘so proud’ to be representing Barnsley and South Yorkshire in this award nomination and hopes it will help inspire young people across the borough to take on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) based careers.

Leonie has been nominated in the category of North England Most Loved Activity Leader or Business Manager in the What’s On 4 Kids National Children’s Activity Awards.

“I was shocked and overwhelmed when I received the email stating they had exciting news that I was through to the next stage of the awards following an initial nomination, especially in this category,” she said.

“Anything we are able to do to promote STEAM subjects in our region I will always see as a positive.

“Amazelab really is a team effort so the nomination should not just be about me, but I was very humbled and honoured to receive it.”

The date for this year’s extravaganza is scheduled for November 30 at Coombe Abbey Hotel in Coventry.
