TWO volunteers are set to take part in their second ‘bed push’ to raise money for Weston Park Cancer Charity.
Debbie Cundy will take part in the event, which was launched last year in celebration of 50 years since the service opened, alongside her ‘charity husband’ Richard Hepworth.
Last year they managed to raise £6,000 for the charity by pushing a hospital bed through the streets – and they’re looking to raise a similar amount this year.
Debbie said: “This year’s bed push will be challenging both physically and mentally in the Peak District.
“One in two of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime.
“I have lost family and friends and one of my dear friends Jane Cooper from Barnsley in July 2016 at the age of 46, leaving behind her partner Jason and two beautiful young daughters Amelia and Romany.
“To help achieve our target of £5,000, we are taking the hospital bed to a number of local shopping centres.
“We shall be at The Alhambra centre on Friday, March 10. We welcome everyone to come along, say hello and, if you can, make a donation.”
The event will take place on April 23.
