STAFF from a local travel firm have raised more than £4,000 for Barnsley Hospice.

Owner and director of KM Travel, Karen Speed, told the Chronicle herself and other members of the team had managed to raise a significant amount of money for the hospice through their raffles on coaches and a reunion weekend.

“We do annual raffles each year and tend to pick a different charity every time we do it,” she said.

“This year we decided we wanted to raise money for Barnsley Hospice because they do wonderful things for our community and help our elderly residents when they need it – they do fantastic things and deserve all the recognition they can get.”

Corporate fundraiser at the hospice, Simon Atkinson, visited the Market Street shop on Tuesday where staff joined together to present the cheque.

“We are over the moon to hear that the team at KM Travel has raised this incredible amount with the ongoing support from their customers,” Simon added

“It means so much to everyone at the hospice to be supported by our local community, and we really can’t thank Karen and everyone involved enough.”
