A LOCAL barber shop is now an official drop-off point for a foodbank.
Twenty To Six, on Wentworth Road, Mapplewell, are giving discounts to customers who fetch items for the Barnsley Foodbank Partnership when they attend their appointment.
Owner, Dan Ogden, 33 – previous winner of the Concept Hair Apprentice of the Year competition – is well-known for his efforts towards building community spirit across the borough.
Dan – who’s been barbering for five years – started helping families during the pandemic, offering free haircuts to kids during the school holidays and providing them with a free drink and something to eat at Landon's Diner on Blacker Road.
Dan told the Chronicle: "Barnsley means a lot to me – it makes me feel good to be able to give back to the community and help parents who are struggling to make ends meet.
"Times are hard for everyone – the cost-of-living crisis has had a huge impact on families.
"Being an official drop-off point for a foodbank means that we can actively help people and this will make a massive difference – it's the least we can do.”
