CONTROVERSIAL plans to build a mast outside a Penistone church have been turned down by Barnsley Council.
An application - which was subject to concern by residents, local councillors and local MP Miriam Cates - was originally submitted in October.
The plans, which would have seen an 18-metre-high telecommunications pole built on Shrewsbury Road, were rejected last week.
