RESIDENTS on town centre street have seen their road grow brighter every Christmas for nearly a decade. Rob Sorfleet, of Firth Street, has dedicated an incredible amount of time every year to searching for festive bargains and repairing broken lights to make his house shine – even going as far as ‘putting a few extra shifts in this year’ to make it more affordable.

This year is Rob’s biggest and best display yet – and in recent weeks it has proven very popular with many residents all over the borough wanting to see the lights with their children. Eight years ago Rob began the start of his display through a neighbour’s friend – he was invited to take some unwanted lights from their garage.

Rob told the Chronicle: “I’m surprised how much the lights have taken off – it’s blown up on Facebook. “We really just want to make as many people smile as we can, especially this year with everything that has happened with Covid and the cost-of-living crisis.” Rob would like to welcome anyone that wants to view the lights to do so between 5pm and 10pm until January 1.
