BARNSLEY East MP Stephanie Peacock quizzed the government on its plans to ensure residents can access antibiotics following a rise in Strep A infections.
The illness has killed 12 children in the UK, with 46 cases registered in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
She said: “Parents in Barnsley are worried about antibiotics shortages, particularly as we see a rise in Strep A infections.
“I asked the government what they are doing to ensure that everyone who needs antibiotics can access them wherever they are in the country.
“My thoughts go out to families who have lost a loved one to Strep A.
“I can’t imagine how difficult this must be.”
