BARNSLEY schoolchildren are taking their bikes to the road this month to practice the skills they have learnt through a national cycle training scheme.

Churchfield Primary, in Cudworth, signed up to the Bikeability scheme to encourage their pupils to build confidence and promote active travel.

Teacher Clare Taylor told the Chronicle: “Bikeability were absolutely amazing from start to finish – they are really passionate about what they do and that shone through.

“They gave each child their own personalised feedback to ensure that their safety was paramount.

“Our children, after completing the course, are extremely aware of potential hazards and how to avoid them on the road.”
