Landlords asked to attend council sessions

LANDLORDS are being encouraged to attend a Barnsley Council drop-in session.

The sessions, which can be found on the council’s website, will help landlords learn about the new RentSmart scheme.

A council spokesperson said: “RentSmart is an online site where landlords can register, upload safety certificates and advertise properties they have for rent.

“As part of the scheme, landlords have access to a landlord zone.

“As part of RentSmart we run landlord events, offer property inspections, as well as access to exclusive services.

“These include housing advice, licensing discounts - £50 or £100 dependant on the star rating of the property - visitor parking permits and pest control discounts.”
