AN investigation is ongoing after Goldthorpe Embankment was vandalised over the weekend.
The vandals entered the closed site and damaged the weather board, smashed bird boxes, emptied the water tower and burned the path.
A spokesperson for Dearne Area Team said: “It’s disappointing that people are spoiling the site for the groups and young people who use it.
“The group will need to now fundraise in order to repair the damage caused.
“The site does have CCTV which will be looked at but If you have any information about this incident, please get in touch with safer@barnsley.gov.uk or dearneteam@barnsley.gov.uk.”
