THIS season’s final food collection at Oakwell will take place tomorrow - and fans are encouraged to bring what they can.

At tomorrow’s early kick off against Preston North End, the joint food collection by Barnsley FC, Reds in the Community and Barnsley Foodbank will be held.

They are asking fans to bring items such as dilute, rice pudding, rice, biscuits, long-life milk, shower gel and deodorant.

Reds in the Community chief executive officer, Paul France, said: “This will be the last Reds Against Hunger collection held at Oakwell Stadium this season, and we hope to make this one the biggest so far.

“We launched the campaign just before Christmas to help support those in need over the festive period.

“We have so far collected 548.5Kg of food, which equates to providing 1,306 meals to people in need.

“If every supporter coming to the match would bring one or two items each, we would comfortably beat the combined total for the first four collections.

“That is our aim because sadly, that is the scale of the need.

“Please help to spread the message and encourage all Reds to bring along a few tins of food.

“It will make a huge difference to another Red in Barnsley.”

The collection point is outside the main office and will be open from 11am.
