THERE are still a number of flooded roads in Barnsley that are closed and should be avoided.

Annat Royd Lane in Ingbirchworth and Wath Road, in Elsecar towards Brampton, are currently closed due to the floods.

Dearne Valley Parkway, from Cortonwood to Wath Road has one lane closed southbound due to standing water.

A council spokesperson said: “Our teams are working across the borough, checking roads for flooding and surface water.

“We put flood boards out to warn you where you need to use caution, or to close a road if the water is too deep to pass through safely.

“Please take care when driving, and pay attention to the warnings on flood boards.”
