FIREFIGHTERS have labelled a Worsbrough park a problem area after crews were called to the site more than ten times in a few weeks.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have said the park, near Monkspring, has become a ‘real problem area’ for crews, who are seeing issues in Bank End and Kendray.

A spokesperson said: “These fires are destroying the local landscape, a nuisance for the local community and indeed they are tying up local crews.

“We are working with our colleagues at Barnsley Council and South Yorkshire Police to start patrolling the areas and will be going into local secondary schools soon.

“In the meantime, we’d be very grateful if anyone with any information on who is setting these fires could share what they know with us, via our FireStoppers service.”
