A LOCAL supermarket has opened a vote in-store for shoppers to choose the location of a £750 donation.

Jack’s Supermarket, started its support scheme to donate proceeds from the sale of carrier bags to local causes.

For the last three months, shoppers have been voting for four programmes - Barnsley Starter Packs, Junior Tykes Football Club, Matthew’s A Friend in Me and Milton School Charitable Trust.

All four charities received £250 for taking part with the school trust gaining an additional £500 following the voting.

Voting has now opened in store for two new charities - Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and Marie Curie Rotherham, Barnsley and Sheffield.

Marius Nae, Jack’s Barnsley store manager, said: “We launched Jack’s Supports to give something back to the local communities that have supported us since our launch.

“Each of the charities involved in the scheme do fantastic work in the local area, and we’re delighted that we are in a position to be able to offer our support.”
