POYA Asbaghi is still yet to win a game since he took over at Barnsley as his side lost 2-1 away to Blackburn Rovers last night.

The Reds remain second from bottom of the Championship and seven points adrift after the third defeat out of the Swede’s first six games.

Ex-Barnsley player Joe Rothwell put Tony Mowbray’s side - who now sit level on points with second-place Fulham - ahead, before Carlton Morris grabbed his second goal of the season on the stroke of half time.

However the Reds couldn’t hold on and, after Michal Helik went off with an injury, Ben Brereton-Diaz scored his 20th goal of the season to punish Barnsley.

Brereton-Diaz has now scored more goals than the entire Barnsley team combined.

It’s the last game in what has been an up-and-down year for the Reds who ended last season in the Championship play-offs, but now find themselves in danger of being relegated to League One.

Barnsley play Nottingham Forest away on Monday at the City Ground.
