VISITING to Barnsley Hospital’s Chemotherapy Unit have been suspended indefinitely due to the risk of Covid-19.
Barnsley Hospital bosses confirmed the news earlier this week in a bid to keep their vulnerable patients receiving chemotherapy safe.
A spokesperson for the hospital said: “If you or a relative feel there are any exceptional circumstances in which you require a carer or visitor with you please discuss this with the nurse in charge at your appointment.
“Anyone who attends the chemotherapy unit treatment area who has not had a PCR test as part of their pre-treatment assessment, must provide evidence of a negative lateral flow which has been done within 24 hours of their visit.
“This includes visitors in exceptional circumstances, and patients attending for rapid treatments.”
