A RECYCLING scheme for Christmas trees has been launched again this year.

The scheme has been launched by Barnsley Hospice to help residents who have a real Christmas tree to dispose of it safely.

The Treecycle service means that no matter how big your real tree is – you don't have to worry about taking it down to your local tip.

The hospice has worked with Shaw's Waste Recycling to offer the service and the chipped trees will be mixed with soil and used for horticultural purposes.

The service will only be available for the following postcodes: S36, S63, S70, S71, S72, S73, S74, and S75.

A spokesperson for Barnsley Hospice said: “Our wonderful drivers will collect your tree on Sunday 9th January 2022. But, we kindly ask that your tree is left outside in a visible place the night before.

“Simply complete the form and make your donation, and we’ll do the rest.”
