POLICE officers from Barnsley’s North team have been looking into parked vehicles to help reduce theft.
The officers are checking the cars in car parks and streets across the St Helen’s, Darton and Old Town wards.
A police spokesperson added: “This is to reduce the number of theft from vehicles.
“This time of year with dark nights coming in we see an increase of theft from motor vehicles.
“If you leave valuables on display expect a knock on the door if the vehicle is parked near the keeper’s address or a letter through the post.
“Don’t become a victim of this type of crime and remove your valuable items.”
