BARNSLEY suffered their fourth consecutive defeat on Saturday after losing 1-0 away at Reading.

Markus Schopp’s side started brightly and were the better side for the first hour but were unable to finish any of their countless chances.

John Swift - who now has more goals than the entire Reds side - scored the only goal of the game in the 77th minute.

The defeat leaves Barnsley in the relegation zone and winless in ten matches.

Markus Schopp said: “It cannot go on longer like this but, for me, this run never should have started.

“Right now we are not getting the reward for what we’re investing.

“If we don’t only focus on the result, we can pick out things that are going better.

“A couple of things were really good but it is always tough when you don’t have the points.”

Barnsley will travel to Middlesborough on Wednesday night.
