VICTIMS of the November 2019 floods in Barnsley only have until the end of October to apply for government funding.

The Defra Property Flood Resilience (PFR) repair scheme was launched following exceptional flooding events.

Barnsley Council is responsible for the scheme in Barnsley, and up to £5,000 is available for people to make changes to properties to ensure flooding doesn’t occur again.

To be eligible for the recovery support scheme, properties must have been ‘severely damaged’ by a flood between November 8 and November 18, 2019.

Coun Chris Lamb, cabinet spokesperson for environment and transport, said: “The floods of November 2019 were devastating for many families and businesses in Barnsley.

“If any family or business affected by these floods has not yet carried out flood resilience works to their property and they have not yet made a claim to this scheme, I urge them to do so before October 31.”

The closing date for the funding is October 31 and more information can be found here.
