A SCHEME that aims to help young parents has launched in Kendray.

The Tiny Tots scheme is available for new parents up-to 25-years-old and has been launched by Barnsley Council in collaboration with Affinity 2020 CIC.

The sessions will support eight families in Barnsley and will run every Thursday evening from 5.30pm to 7pm at Kendray and Worsbrough Family Centre.

The first half of the scheme will provide practical tips on bonding, and activities to help your child to build skills and the second half will focus on getting ready for school.

Coun Trevor Cave, cabinet spokesperson for children’s services, said: “We want to provide support for young new parents in a welcoming and supportive environment.

“It’s about helping our young people learn their own parenting style, giving them the knowledge and skills to parent in their own best way.

“We hope that this scheme will help new parents grow in confidence and give their little ones the best start in life.

“We particularly want to work with new parents who are leaving the care of the local authority, or who are care experienced in any way.”
