A YOUNG Barnsley footballer has jetted off to America after securing a highly sought-after scholarship.
Finley Hunt, 18, who has played for Shaw Lane, North Gawber and Penistone Church, will be pursuing his studies at the same time as training and playing with the Campbellsville University Tigers in Kentucky.
“I’m most excited about playing football every day – we are currently in pre-season training and our first league match is in two weeks’ time which is exciting,” Finley said.
“I was really happy and excited that I was going to be playing football for an American college team.
“It means a lot because the coaches in America viewed my match video footage and starting contacted me to play for their team.
“I received offers from five different universities – this was a great feeling and made me feel proud.”
