BARNSLEY Hospice has pledged to support ethnic minorities gain access to bereavement support and improve awareness and accessibility.

The hospice made the pledge following a study conducted by the University of Sheffield.

In response, the end of life facility has pledged to work with local organisations to improve access to help.

A spokesperson for the hospice said: “Our commitment to being an inclusive service is of paramount importance, and we accept referrals to our counselling service for patients and their families, who are under the care of Specialist Palliative Care services and have a Barnsley GP.

“We accept referrals from adults and children.

“For bereavement counselling, we also accept self-referrals.”
