SCHOOL may have only just started for Barnsley’s youngsters but parents and carers are being encouraged to apply for their child’s school place for next year.
The closing date for secondary school applications is October 31 whereas primary school applications must be submitted by January 15, 2022.
Applications can be made online through the council’s online portal - this can be found on their website.
Coun Trevor Cave, cabinet spokesperson for children’s services, said: “It may feel a long way off, but choosing which schools to apply for is one of the most important decisions a family can make.
“We want Barnsley to be a place where children and young people can achieve their full potential.
“This is why we were delighted to see 93.8 per cent of children receive an offer for their preferred primary school and 96.9 per cent receive an offer for their preferred secondary school.
“It is important that you apply on time and identify three preferences.
“Apply online today and check out our school admissions webpage for all the information you need to make an informed choice for your child.”
