THERE’S less than a week to go until nominations close for a place on the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Barnsley Council is encouraging residents to nominate worthy candidates, with nominations particularly welcomed for people who are delivering exceptional local public services for communities, volunteers working in their area, individuals who have gone ‘above and beyond’ during the pandemic and those supporting community integration and interfaith work.

Recipients deserving of an honour are announced twice a year – at the turn of the year or on the Queen’s official birthday.

However, the 2022 honours announcement is being brought forward slightly next year to coincide with the Queen’s platinum jubilee on June 2.

The last date to submit a nomination is September 1.
