BARNSLEY FC has released an apology after hundreds of fans had trouble with their new season cards.

More than 12,000 fans descended on Oakwell on Saturday to watch the game with Coventry City.

However many fans reported an issue with their Reds Membership season cards.

The cards wouldn't scan correctly and the turnstile operatives were forced to manually enter the codes to be able to admit supporters.

The scanners at the grounds were unable to read the new barcodes, leading to long hold-ups as fans tried to get into the stands.

The issue has been reported to Ticketmaster who are working on the issue.

A spokesperson for the club said: “Barnsley FC apologises to all those inconvenienced and thanks its supporters for their patience and understanding on the matter.

“We are aware that not everything is perfect right now, however, efforts are being made to return to normal after the impact caused by the coronavirus pandemic.”
