RESIDENTS across Barnsley can now recycle paper containers with metal ends at Household Recycling Centres.

Items such as Pringles tubes and containers for things such as hot chocolate and nuts are now eligible for recycling.

Coun Chris Lamb, cabinet spokesperson for environment and transport, said: “We know people really value being able to recycle as much of their waste as possible and playing their part in achieving a more sustainable Barnsley.

“Together with our residents we’ve reduced the amount of waste we send to landfill to less than 2.4 per cent and we’ll keep working to reduce that.

“We’re proud of our borough, and it’s vital that we look after our local environment by reusing our resources.

“The people of Barnsley have always responded well to the different recycling schemes we’ve implemented, and we hope that they will take full advantage of this new service at our recycling centres.”
