BARNSLEY Hospital bosses have reiterated that they will not tolerate violence or aggression towards their staff from patients or visitors.

The hospital’s emergency department has been busier than usual for this time of the year, and due to Covid safety measures that have been put in place there is less room to accommodate everyone.

A spokesperson for the hospital said: “We take safety seriously, so ask that everyone who comes into the hospital wear a mask and try to keep two metres distance from others wherever possible.

“We ask our staff to do this, and we also ask patients and visitors to do it too.

“We recognise that attending healthcare settings can be upsetting, frustrating and difficult, and this can impact on a person’s behaviour.

“However, there are boundaries and we will not tolerate violence or aggression.”
