LIBRARIES will welcome back book lovers with fresh new signage as they reopen with the easing of restrictions.

The rebrand has come through the council's Principal Towns funding pot, and is aimed at bringing libraries in communities including Worsbrough, Dodworth, Royston and Hoyland into line with the town centre Library @ the Lightbox.

Bosses believe the sites' old signage had begun to look dated, especially after the opening of the town centre library in 2019 as part of the ongoing Glass Works redevelopment.

Coun Jenny Platts, cabinet spokesperson for adults and communities, said: "We are excited to see the new signage on our libraries.

"There’s always a warm welcome at all our libraries, but it’s great to have a fresh new look as we come out of this pandemic.

"We want to ensure our local libraries continue to be places where people can enjoy the best service and participate in the fantastic activities they host.

"I would encourage anyone, as we start to open up again, to pop along to their local library, whether that's to borrow a book, find out what's happening in the local area, or begin to join in new activities."
