ALMOST 80 per cent of Barnsley’s adult population have had at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Since the start of the vaccine rollout, more than 159,000 residents in the town have have had their first dose - equating to 78.2 per cent of those 18 and over.

More than half of adults across the borough are now fully vaccinated as almost 120,000 people have had both doses - a 58.2 per cent uptake.

The Barnsley Healthcare Federation have also confirmed that they are on target to complete all doses for over 50s by July 4.
