BARNSLEY Hospice has thanked local businesses who took part in a fundraising challenge which raised more than £10,000 for the charity.

The Accumulator Challenge challenged local businesses to turn £28 into as much money as possible through different means.

Fourteen businesses took part and together raised £10,206 for the hospice.

Corporate fundraiser for the hospice, Simon Atkinson, said: “I am never going to get sick of saying thank you to the businesses.

“Under the circumstances this is just incredible. The past year has been stressful and I want to thank the businesses who helped raise the money for the hospice.”

Simon announced the winners of the competition.

Joanne at the Darton Arrow won most innovative idea for creating a business to help teach children about the environment.

The overall winner was XPO Logistics who raised £3,300.
