POLICE have confirmed they will clamp down on off-road bikers in Darfield.

Officers from the Barnsley South Neighbourhood Policing Team have received reports of bikers using Inkerman Fields to drive their bikes.

The police have confirmed they will work with the council to tackle the problem.

A spokesperson for the team said: “Issues like this cannot be solved by police alone and so a multi-agency tasking meeting was called to discuss problem solving ideas.

“As a result, Inspector Richardson and PC Warren attended the site with colleagues from Barnsley Council and agreed a plan going forward, to 'target harden' the area and make the area less 'usable' for off road bikes.”
