THE temporary footbridge over the Jumble Lane crossing will be closed tomorrow due to the Barnsley FC game.
The bridge, which has a limited capacity, will be closed one hour before the match, and one hour after the match for the safety of fans.
The link bridge in the interchange will also be closed – except to people with mobility issues or wheelchair users.
A spokesperson for Travel South Yorkshire said: “The decision to close the bridges for one hour before and one hour after each home match was made by British Transport Police, South Yorkshire Police, Barnsley Council , Barnsley FC and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive to prevent any safety issues for other public transport users.
“There will be posters displayed around the Interchange and on the rail station informing anyone with accessibility issues, or short connections, wishing to cross the link bridge on match days to liaise with a member of staff on site or at the rail ticket office who will be happy to assist.”
The bridge will be closed from 7.15pm tomorrow (May 17).
