AS many were celebrating the long weekend, fire crews were called to five fires across the borough – three of which are thought to be deliberate.

On Saturday, firefighters from Tankersley station were called to an accidental vehicle fire on Moor Lane in Birdwell. They attended at 4.10pm and left the scene at 4.30pm.

A car was deliberately set on fire on Saturday at 10.10pm on Highstone Crescent, Worsbrough Common, Barnsley. The crews came away at 10.55pm.

On Sunday, an shed was deliberately set on fire on Doncaster Road, Barnsley. Three fire crews from Cudworth and Barnsley stations attended the incident and they left the scene at 2.45pm.

Tankersley firefighters attended an accidental car fire at 7:30pm on Sunday on Station Road, Wortley, Barnsley. The crew left the scene at 8.10pm.

Firefighters from Dearne station attended a deliberate bike fire at 2.20am on Monday on Tyers Hill, Ardsley. The crew left the scene at 2.35am.
